Project Textile, Clothing, Footwear Ormoc City for the Coalition of Ormoc Women (COW)
Project Textile, Clothing, Footwear Ormoc City is a community sewing livelihood project implemented by five non-government organizations under the umbrella of the COW. Donations of sewing machines and sewing materials were distributed from Perth, Western Australia to 21 Community Livelihood Centres in 19 barangays on Leyte Island, Philippines, to enable the local women to produce clothing for not only themselves, but also to sell as small business intiatives.
To complement this project, a second dimension of the sponsorship was added by sending Australian fashion designers Carol Hanlon and Mel Rom, and Australian professional modeling trainer Adam Barralet, to empower the youth through self confidence and modelling classes to showcase the fashion designs created as well as building confidence.
This event was partly sponsored by NorAsian, by the involvement of the West Australian Rotary Club of Matilda Bay and two Rotary clubs in Ormoc. Otto Energy's non-executive director, Dr Jaap Poll, is a member of the Matilda Bay Rotary Club. Ormoc is a small city in southwest Leyte Island, Philippines, located near NorAsian's Service Contract 51 offshore exploration licence. |
